HER Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso has urged graduates of Machabeng College to uphold excellence, integrity and a spirit of service as they step into the next chapter of their lives.
The Queen made the remarks during the graduation ceremony of more than 50 International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma students held at the Mathabiseng Convention Centre yesterday.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the college and celebrated years of dedication, academic excellence and personal growth among the graduating class. The event was attended by government officials, faculty members, parents, friends and the students themselves.
In her address, Her Majesty, who is also the school patron, congratulated the graduates and wished them a future filled with courage, purpose and success. She said their achievements reflected the transformative power of education.
“Your success is a reminder that education is a powerful force capable of unlocking potential,” Her Majesty said.
She encouraged the graduates to carry forward the values instilled in them during their studies, particularly critical thinking, ethical conduct and leadership.
“Carry yourselves with excellence and let your conduct reflect the education you have received and the ambitions driven by the spirit of service,” she added.
Head of School, Rupa Sen, described the occasion as a celebration of young people equipped to use education to improve their lives and contribute meaningfully to society.
“Today, I see not just students who have completed a rigorous programme, but individuals who have embarked on a journey of independent thought, resilience and global awareness,” Ms Sen said.
She said the IB Diploma programme goes beyond academics by shaping character, cultivating purpose and preparing students to lead in an increasingly interconnected world.
“Over the past two years, students have demonstrated excellence in their examinations, learned to think critically and questioned thoughtfully — skills that will serve them well in their future endeavours,” she said.
Ms Sen encouraged the graduates to remain courageous, act with integrity and pursue their ambitions with determination.
Speaking on behalf of the graduating class, outgoing SRC president, Phahlake Nonyane, said the achievement represented not only academic success but also perseverance and sacrifice.
He thanked parents for their unwavering support and the school administration for creating an environment that nurtures growth and leadership.
Addressing the class of 2027, Nonyane urged future students to understand that success comes through hard work, consistency and sacrifice.
“The journey ahead will test you, but if you stay committed, you will overcome any challenge,” he said.
