MASERU — Lioli president Lebohang Thotanyana was on Thursday elected new premier league management committee chairman.
Thotanyana — who was tipped for the chairmanship after Tlholo Letete stepped down in May — won the elections after garnering 10 votes against Likhopo team manager Qamako Mahao’s two.
“I am happy that I will be one of the seven premier league committee members that will make a difference in our football fraternity for the next year,” Thotanyana said on Friday.
He said the committee will meet on Tuesday to discuss their plans for next year.
“We are meeting on Tuesday to decide what we are going to implement in the next year that we will be in the office,” Thotanyana said.
“But one of the important things to us is that we want to make a premier league inclusive of everyone.
“We will do that by ensuring that we do not do the work on our own. Instead we will establish sub-committees that will help us deal with all issues involving premier league teams,” the 37-year-old football administrator said.
“For example, we want to have a committee that will specifically deal with discipline and other cases in the league.
“By this we are trying to avoid a situation where some people feel excluded from the running of the premier league management committee.”
He added: “We want to work and be seen as a unit because that way we can achieve a lot if we have a spirit of reconciliation”.
Other members of the committee are Leuta Leuta (vice chairman), Sefako Seema (secretary), Thabo Maretlane (vice secretary), Lehlohonolo Matlosa (public relations officer), Lehlohonolo Molahlehi and Tlohelo Motlamelle (members).
