UPCOMING artiste, Malefa ‘Maffah’ Suping recently released her first dancehall Experimental Project (EP), titled Maffah Da Real themed on the emotions of love and betrayal.

The EP has four tracks which will also be contesting at the forthcoming Kereke ea Lesotho (KEL) Music Awards under the Dancehall category.

The 21 year-old Qoaling-based artiste recently told Xpress People that she entered the music scene in 2016 as part of a hip hop outfit “but because of my busy schedule, we decided to part ways”.

“I am vocalist, a rapper, so I tried out other genres before settling for dance hall”.

Muffah said her first dancehall track was inspired by the relationship with her former boyfriend who allegedly cheated on her.

“My music is all about love, of how much I believed in love before my former boyfriend cheated on me.”

Maffah said she started singing at an early age in a church choir.

“Being the preacher’s kid, I grew up in a singing family” she said.

She added that she flirted with different styles before settling on the dancehall genre.

She had to contend with her father’s initial skepticism and disapproval of her career choice, adding that with time she won him over and he had since become her number one fan who even gave pointers on her lyrics.

Although she joined the music industry with an awareness that it was not easy, nothing had prepared her for the “unjust treatment” where some male producers would only agree to work with her in exchange for sexual favours.

“This industry is very unfair to females but the worst case scenario is being expected to sleep my way up.”

In addition, some night spots refused to allow her to perform on account of age.

“I was on a line up for the recent Kwalichaba Night Club launch but I failed to perform because they said I was too young.”

The upcoming star aspires to share stage with international dancehall giants, the likes of Cecily, Alkaline, and Chris Martins to name the few.
