Mothoana happy with progress

MASERU — Lesotho international, Bokang “Lefty” Mothoana, is delighted with his progress since rejoining Tunisian outfit Union Sportive Monastir in August. The gifted utility player told the Sunday Express on Friday that his team had registered two victories, a draw and a loss since the start of the new Tunisian league 1. Mothoana is in his third spell with the Tunisian side he first joined in 2007.
“We had a promising start and things are looking good for the team since the start of the season,” Mothoana said. “I’m also happy with my contribution because I have featured in all the four opening games despite not being fully fit,” he said.

The former Likhopo star midfielder said he has been struggling with fitness, but will soon be back at his best. “I have been struggling with injuries and I’m not happy with my performance because I know I can do better,” said the Sea Point-born player. “I’m always happy here, Monastir has become my home away from home and the fans all appreciate me a lot which makes it even special,” he said.
Mothoana signed a two-year deal with Monastir in August. The move came after he failed to win a contract with Switzerland side FC Zurich in the off-season. The Lesotho international was a key member of the team when they won promotion back to the Tunisian elite league last season and was even handed the captain’s armband to lead his team in the league matches.
The versatile left footed player said he hopes Likuena will perform better in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers where they are scheduled to meet Zambia early next year.
“I missed the opening game away to Ghana, but was back in the team in the goalless draw at home to Sudan.
“We still have a chance and should use our home advantage when we host both Zambia and Ghana at home,” he said.
