AFRO-jazz sensation and human rights lawyer, Mookho Moqhali is set to release her debut album on 1 March 2019.

Titled Itholele, the album is the singer’s celebration of her milestone in musical journey after she bagged the Best Jazz Compilation at the Ultimate Music Awards in 2015.

The album comes after her compilation Ha Re eeng Hae released in 2015 with tracks like Ha re eeng hae, I still Believe, Jah Guide and Rato la Jesu.

Mookho told the Xpress People that the album Itholele details her personal journey and celebrates her achievements and personal growth.

She said the album carries 11 tracks such as Ntumelle, Find You and Ke Thabile which are in both Sesotho and English.

Mookho said the track Find You encourages people to understand who they are.

“In any form of relationship, it’s easier to relate with others if you understand yourself,” Mookho said.

“You will not crack the code of one’s character unless you have mastered your own.”

Mookho said the title track Itholele, is a reconciliation song which posits that conflict is inherent in co-existence and encourages people to embrace each other in their differences with love and tact.

“This song has African melodies inspiring us all to plant ourselves and leave a footprint that we were here.

“We ought to find ourselves and our purpose knowing we live on borrowed time. We should embrace our journey with its perks and struggles, love without limits above all love self,” Mookho said.

Mookho also has singles such as Ba Ile and latest single Mphe Mphe e’a Lapisa (loosely translated to mean begging fuels more hunger) which features the legendary, Puseletso “’M’e Mpuse” Seema is a fusion of jazz and famo sounds.

Mookho broke into the music industry in 2008 as a backing vocalist and has worked with the likes of Kommanda Obbs, DJ Mosh, Mapule and Majisto. She started her solo career in 2015 with the four-track compilation Ha Re Eng.

She has graced many stages including Miss Lesotho 2018 and even performed alongside American singer, Maya Azucena, when the latter visited Lesotho in 2016.
