MASERU — Lesotho international midfielder Bokang Mothoana has returned to Tunisia top-flight outfit US Monistir after spending three months in Lesotho.
Mothoana, 23, had been with Likhopo — the club where he started his career — playing in seven competitive matches, scoring four goals.
He has signed another three-year contract with US Monistir which runs until 2012.
The move was confirmed by Likhopo team manager Qamako Mahao, on Friday.
“Mothoana is in Tunisia. The contract which we had with him stated that if he were to receive an offer from a professional club, we would release him unconditionally. He left for Tunisia on December 16 and he was signed on December 23,” Mahao said.
Mothoana joined US Monistir in 2007 and last May, helped the club reach its first-ever Tunisian national cup final, where they lost 0-1 to CS Sfaxien.
He had been with the Tunisian team in 2007 until he was released by the club in 2009 at the end his contract.
Mothoana’s time in the local league allowed him to take part in the national team’s Cosafa Senior Challenge campaign in Zimbabwe last October, where he scored Lesotho’s goal in a 1-0 win over Mauritius.
Meanwhile, Mahao revealed Likhopo would be looking to strengthen their squad and are negotiating deals for two unnamed players from Vodacom Premier League rivals Lerotholi.
