JAPANESE Car Importer Khethollo Tsakatsi of (KTJCI) has pumped in M20 000 sponsorship for the Lesotho Volleyball Association (LVA) tournament scheduled for next month.

Dubbed Open Winter Tournament, the three-day competition is set to run from 13 to 15 July at the Lehakoe Recreational Center.

LVA spokesperson Buller Phalatse on Friday said they are expecting the tournament to have high standards as they are expecting teams from outside the country.

“It is good that we are hosting several tournaments in the country since that is the only way that we can improve competitiveness,” Phalatse said.

“This is an open tournament and we are expecting teams from as far as Botswana, Swaziland, Bloemfontein and Pietermaritzburg who have all show interest.

“We anticipate the tournament to be big. Many teams, including those from the corporate sector that are not necessarily part of the national league I have shown interest.”

Phalatse said the tournament will also help their teams to prepare for the annual regional club championship that will be staged later this year in a country yet to be confirmed.

“Playing against foreign teams will help local teams who are still far behind in terms of standard as compared to those from the region. The foreign teams will help us gauge our standard.

“We are grateful to KTJCI for this gesture we hope many other companies will follow the suit,” Phalatse.
