MASERU — Local photographers are set to battle it out for a spot to represent the country at the Alliance Française Foundation photography competition in Paris next year. The deadline for submission of photographs is January 10, 2013. Alliance Française Maseru Honorary Consul, Camille Perdereau, told XpressPeople the competition is open to local photographers.
“The competition is meant to show unique occupations related to traditions and their evolution,” she said. It is being run under the theme, “Jobs of the World”. “To enter the competition, the photographer must submit two pictures showing men and women in their diverse jobs around the world at the Alliance Française Maseru offices,” Perdereau said. A jury of professionals in the fields of art and photography will select one winner who will take part in the Paris competition.
“Only one winner will be selected in Maseru and will join the other winners from the other Alliances Françaises around the world for a second selection which will be scrutinised by a jury in Paris,” Perdereau said. “To stand a chance to win, the photographers must have met all the rules and regulations, must have submitted pictures that depict “jobs of the world” plus good quality pictures that can compete in an international competition.”
“The winner of the second stage of the competition which will be held in Paris, will be invited to Paris for a week with all travel and accommodation costs paid for by the Alliance Française Foundation. The winner will also have a solo exhibition in a Parisian Gallery.”
