MASERU — The late District Administrator of Berea, Tsielo Mpeqa, who died in a car accident last Friday, will be buried on December 14.
A family friend, Mahao Mahao said, “He will be buried on December 14 and his memorial service will be on the 10th”.
The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship Affairs, Selibe Mochoboroane, said the DA was involved in a road traffic accident on his way to a function in Leribe.
“On Friday the DA was on his way to Leribe to attend an official function when the vehicle he was travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a mini-bus,” Mochoboroane told the Sunday Express.
He said Mpeqa and two other passengers in the same vehicle died on the spot.
“We did not lose the DA only during the accident we also lost the assistant administration manager together with a correctional officer,” he said.
He said his death came as a shock to them because he was still young and “we expected a lot from him”. Mpeqa was born in 1972.
“He was one of the young and hard working district administrators in the ministry. He was travelling with other official who are also very important.
“As the ministry we send our deepest condolences to their families, colleagues and Basotho nation,” he added.
Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) Public Relations Officer, ‘Mateboho Ramphielo, confirmed that two correctional officers died in the accident.
“We lost two correctional officers during that accident. One died immediately at the accident scene while another died later in hospital,” Ramphielo said.
