MASERU — The Minister of Public Service Motloheloa Phooko says all government ministries are going to follow service delivery instruments which will be overseen by the Prime Minister.
Phooko says all the ministries will sign an accountability agreement to enhance hard work and productivity in the civil service.
Among other measures, ministries will be expected to come up with specific time-frames within which tasks will be accomplished.
“And this agreement will have a limit that after a certain period of time our ministry will have done this much,” Phooko said.
He said some of the instruments will be introduced at the Public Service Day celebrations on November 1 2013.
This year Public Service Day will be celebrated under the theme ‘Transformative e-government and Innovation Creating a better future for all’ at the Setsoto National Stadium.
Phooko said they came up with the theme because they wanted public servants to have innovative solutions and the delivery of e-governance as it will bring openness and transparency in government.
According to the minister, in an effort to create more openness Public Service Day sporting competitions will be voted by the general public through media
after which winners from the ten districts will be awarded prizes accordingly.
This will be the ninth celebration of the Public Service Day in Lesotho.
