MASERU — Moradi Crushers presented His Majesty, King Letsie III with a Drakensberger bull on Tuesday. The present, which was handed over to the King at the Matsieng Royal homestead, is part of festivities for his 50th birthday celebration. His Majesty’s 50th birthday was celebrated on July 17 in a national event which was graced by some of the world’s great leaders. Being the nation’s unifying figure, celebrations in his honour have continued since then by all sectors of society.

According to Moradi Crushers’ Chairman Mokhele Likate the company gave the King this special gift because “King Letsie III and members of the Lesotho royal family are keen ranchers of the Drakensberger cattle and are very particular about keeping them for pure stock”. “For this reason, the Directors of Moradi Crushers determined that it would be in order for the company to make a contribution that supports the breeding of this particular sub type,” Likate said. The Drakensberger cattle are an indigenous South African/Lesotho breed which has been reared over the centuries by the peoples of this part of Africa.

Moradi Crushers is a sandstone mining company which started its operations in Morija which is a part of Matsieng in 1986.
