MASERU — At least 75 people will be used as extras in the film The Forgotten Kingdom.
The film’s director, Andrew Mudge, told Xpress People that shooting is set to start today at Morija, about 40km south of Maseru.
Mudge said they had invited 100 people out of those who had auditioned earlier this year to be extras at Pioneer Mall on Wednesday.
“We only had 75 on Wednesday out of the 100 that we had invited for casting,” he said.
The producers were not looking for anything special.
“We didn’t really have anything special that we were looking for but (we wanted) people from all ages who were enthusiastic to be in the film.”
“We intend on using all the 75 who showed up,” Mudge said.
He said there won’t be rehearsals for the extras.
“We will simply call them before the shoot and tell them where to be and when. We will also advise them on what kind of wardrobe they should bring on set.
He added: “The second session of shooting begins this Sunday (today) and it will last three weeks.”
“We will then shoot in Roma at St Michaels church before going to Koalabata Primary School at Khubetsoana.”
Mudge said before heading to Sefikeng for their last shoot in Lesotho, “we will be filming at the bus stop area in Maseru for a few days then go to Leribe for the rest of the shoot”.
“Our last location in Lesotho is in Sefikeng,” he said.
One of the extras, Jobo Sekhonyana, said he was thrilled to be part of the film.
“I was casted for the same role in 2007 for the trailer of the film and I am very happy that I am now going to be in the final production,” Sekhonyana told Xpress People.
“I have been on a number of radio dramas and films which include Monna Motsamai and Leeto la Bophelo where I was the main character, and this opportunity is telling me there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
Sekhonyana said being on the same set as renowned South African actor Zenzo Ngqobe was a big achievement for him.
“I love film and this film is a dream-come-true. I will be sharing a set with Zenzo who has international exposure and I am very honoured.”
