KICK4LIFE and Likuena midfielder, Bokang ‘Lefty’ Mothoana, will be out for at least eight more weeks as he continues his recovery after recently undergoing knee surgery at Rose Park Hospital in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

The national team skipper is yet to kick a ball after injuring his knee during preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Tanzania that was played in June this year.

The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) footed the bill for the surgery.

“I am happy that I am recovering well from the surgery that I underwent three weeks ago in Bloemfontein with the help of LeFA,” Mothoana said.

“It is not a good feeling watching the team (Kick4Life) struggle this season and knowing that there is nothing I can do is hurting.

“We recently achieved a third place finish in the Independence Cup. All the players worked hard for the team to be where it is now and we all wanted to be part of that historic moment but unfortunately I missed out due to injury.”

Mothoana, who had a spell with Tunisian outfit, Union Sportive Monastirienne, said he was focused on fully recovering and he would not rush his return.

“You have to be mentally strong because it is not easy to just sit and watch others play. That is why some players rush back into the field of play before they have completely healed and end up causing more damage to themselves.

“But I was lucky to play in more developed leagues and I understand why it is important to focus on healing before thinking about playing,” he said, adding he had also benefitted from the “amazing support” from teammates, LeFA and his family.
