UP-AND COMING South African rapper, Eze Lap, stole the show at the annual Spring Madness held at entertainment joint 4Fordy in Khubetsoana on Friday.
Despite not being on the official line up of artistes performing at the event, Eze Lap was not intimidated with sharing the stage with the likes of South African Motswako rapper, Mo Molemi.
In an interview with Sunday Express’s sister paper the Lesotho Times, Mo Molemi had hinted he would bring with him Eze Lap whom he described as the future of Motswako, adding that he would “tear down the stage”.
Eze Lap did not disappoint, introducing himself to the crowd with a freestyle verse about Maseru. He performance was characterized by witty punchlines along the lines of fellow Motswako rapper, Notshi. In no time the crowd was singing along since Eze Lap would teach them beforehand.
With the crowd warmed up and still in a frenzy, Eze Lap made way for Mo Molemi. The 32-year-old Setswana rapper, whose real name is Motlapele Morule, started off by introducing new material from his latest offering A Sia before performing his well-known songs.
When Mo Molemi performed the hit Manong, there were deafening screams as he was joined on the stage by his Motswako counterpart, Tuks Senganga to belt out a scintillating performance.
Not to be outdone, Tuks, who always seems to refresh his craft gave a good account of himself with a number of songs as well.
Much to the delight of revelers, the visiting trio did not put on airs like most celebrities do. Upon their arrival at around 10pm, the South Africans mingled with the crowd and took pictures before they performed in the early hours of Saturday.
The local contingent did not disappoint either and rose to the occasion which even compelled the Motswako rappers to hail their performances.
The event saw the likes of Mookho rapper Megahertz, the famous MIP, OGM with their Chelete hit, Tjotjo hit-makers Juvy and Boots, among others, performing and complimented by an array of local deejays who ensured that the party continued till morning.
Spring Madness, which is organised by local entertainment outfit Stocksweet Entertainment, is an annual event to celebrate the onset of the season of spring.
In its second edition, the event is aimed at giving local acts exposure and affording them the opportunity to share the stage with artistes who have made it in the industry.
The event is a partnership between Tuks, Mo Molemi and Stocksweet Entertainment owner, Dallas T, with the objective of promoting the local arts industry and fostering good relations between the two countries.
