MASERU — South African hip hop hit maker, Reason, is set to share the stage with American rapper Kendrick Lamar at the Miller Boomtown concert tour scheduled for Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town between February 7 and 9.

Sizwe Moeketsi, born in Tembisa, South Africa, Reason cut his teeth in the hip hop industry in street rap battles at a tender age and also took part in numerous music competitions.

The Bump the Cheese Up! hit maker began making headlines when his single, Walk on Water, became the soundtrack for the movie Otelo Burning.

Reason’s hard-hitting lyrics have earned him plaudits from hip hop lovers as attested by reactions to tracks such as Tla k’o bone and Do it Like I Can, in which his unique style of rapping comes through.
Speaking to XpressPeople this week, Reason said he feels blessed to be part of Lamar’s tour.

“This is definitely a great achievement to be one of the two rappers out of an ocean of talented and influential South African musicians enlisted to share the stage with someone this great,” Reason said.

“Lamar is a good writer and no one can deny that his art is outstanding. I have never been to Compton (Lamar’s hometown in Los Angeles, California), but if his music is anything to go by, I have an idea of what the city looks like.

“I can’t help but be proud and inspired to be the main live supporting act on the tour and I intend to give a befitting performance,” he told XpressPeople this week.

Rapper Khuli Chana is also set to share the stage with Reason on the tour. Channel O and Vuzu presenter, SK, is billed to host the tour, while DJ Dimples will be holding it down as the DJ.
The Good Kid mA.A.d City three-day tour will kick off in Durban on February 7, before rocking Johannesburg the following day. The curtain call is scheduled for Sunday in Cape Town.

The concert was initially scheduled for November last year but was moved to February due to clashing tour dates.
