LSRC unveils car for sports raffle

THE Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission (LSRC), together with its implementation partners, Imajin and Fusion Lesotho, has unveiled a brand-new vehicle as the grand prize in the Lesotho Sports Raffle.

The 2026 Chery Tiggo 4 Pro was unveiled on Friday at AVANI Lesotho and will be awarded to a lucky winner on 27 November at Maseru Mall.

The vehicle is among the prizes offered through the raffle, which was launched in August. Cash prizes ranging from M5000, M10 000, M15 000 and M60 000 are awarded every Friday, while a vehicle is up for grabs every 90 days. All registered players stand a chance of winning.

The initiative is designed to provide sustainable funding for sports development while giving Basotho an opportunity to contribute to the sector through a citizen-driven funding model.

Members of the public can participate through the official LSRC website, by downloading the Lesotho Sports Raffle app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, or by dialling *320# and following the instructions on any mobile network in Lesotho.

Speaking at the unveiling, Imajin and Fusion Lesotho chief executive officer Arnold Asante said the initiative was established to support sports development while giving participants an opportunity to win meaningful prizes.

“The Lesotho Sports Raffle is here to build the game; it is here to develop our sport,” Asante said.

He said the unveiling fulfilled the promise made at the launch that a vehicle would be awarded every 90 days.

Asante added that participants who had entered previous draws without winning remained eligible for the vehicle draw.

He expressed satisfaction with the response from Basotho but encouraged more people to participate, saying the raffle would help support sports development in the country.

LSRC president, Baba Malephane, also thanked Basotho for supporting the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards improving sports development.

He said the unveiling demonstrated the seriousness and credibility of the raffle and urged more people to support it.

“This is a sign of how legitimate and serious we are about this initiative,” Malephane said.

“This initiative is not for me or the LSRC, but for Basotho and the future of sport in this country.

“We cannot always wait for the government to do things for us when we have the responsibility and the potential to bring about change on our own.”

The LSRC said the raffle had so far awarded more than half a million maloti in cash prizes.
