Jilted TY man kidnaps ex-lover

MASERU — Hell has no fury like a jilted man.
This was true for a 32-year-old man from Teyateyaneng who could not take it kindly when his lover left him and married another man.
Not satisfied with how things had turned out, the man began pestering the 22-year-old woman, sending her text messages.
But when this did not help, the man decided to kidnap the woman with the help of his two friends.
“The victim was sleeping in the same room with her sister in-law aged 17 when the suspects broke in through the window on the night of February 20,” Masupha Masupha, the police spokesman, said.
He said the three men sealed the sister-in-law’s mouth with a sticky tape to prevent her from screaming and alerting neighbours.
They then kidnapped the woman and took her to a traditional healer’s place.
Masupha said the police were notified about the woman’s disappearance after her in-laws reported that she had gone missing.
He said the three, including the 42-year-old traditional healer, were now facing charges of kidnapping.
Masupha said the suspects had kept the woman at the traditional healer’s place “in order to chase away police through the traditional healer’s muti (charm)”.
Police received a tip-off from members of the public that the kidnapped woman was being kept at the healer’s home.
This led to the arrest of the man and the traditional healer, Masupha said.
The two are expected to appear in court soon.
The other two men are still at large.
Meanwhile, 30 Primary Student Leaving Examination (PSLE) certificates were stolen at Ha Tsolo Primary School on February 23.
Masupha said the school principal discovered the theft after one of the students who sat for the exams in 2010 came to pick up his certificate.
“It only got to the principal’s attention that about 30 certificates were missing when a student came to collect his results,” he said.
There was no break-in into the school’s offices. Police are investigating the case.
