MASERU — Lesotho Correctional Service (LCS) are hoping for the almost impossible when they seek to overturn a 3-0 score-line when they take on Uganda Revenue Authority in a make-or-break Champions League tie at Setsoto Stadium this afternoon.
LCS go into the return leg encounter a wounded side after they were convincingly hammered away in Kampala a fortnight ago.
LCS — popularly known as Masheshena — can only progress to the next stage of the competition if they score at least four goals without reply, a mission that seems virtually impossible given the club’s current form.
Any other score-line that would see the Ugandan champions score a single goal will mean Lesotho’s reigning champions will bow out of Africa’s premier club competition.
LCS desperately need to win this afternoon’s tie if they are to salvage whatever is left of their reputation in the Champions League after they also suffered an embarrassment four years back.
They bowed out of the 2008 edition of the competition after they lost 4 -1 on aggregate to South Africa’s Platinum Stars.
LCS coach Mosholi “Shoes” Mokhothu told the Sunday Express they were not putting themselves under any pressure.
“Yes you are right we will at least need to score four goals if we are to proceed to the next stage of this competition,” Mokhothu said.
“We however don’t want to put ourselves under any pressure and say we must score four goals, instead we’ve got our own strategy.”
Mokhothu said their game plan was to at least score as early as possible in order to put their opponents under pressure.
“Our aim is to score two goals as early as possible because scoring goals early in the game will put our opponents under pressure,” Mokhothu said.
He said they were hoping to apply pressure on Uganda Revenue Authority to force them to press the panic button.
Mokhothu said a 2-0 score-line at half-time would not do the club any harm as they seek to progress to the next round.
