TOP golfer, Teboho Tlaitlai, is piling the pressure on Lesotho Senior Golf League leader, Setšabe Lefosa, as the title race intensifies.
The league, now in its 13th week, stages its rounds every Thursday, with the latest played on 9 April 2026 at Maseru Golf Course. The most recent round significantly shook up the standings and intensified the battle for mid-season supremacy.
Lefosa maintained his lead after scoring 32 points, but Tlaitlai produced the round’s standout performance, carding 41 points — the highest of the day — to close the gap at the top.
Kelello Lerotholi and Letlafuoa Molapo also remained in contention with solid performances of 31 and 30 points respectively.
Players accumulate points weekly to determine their standings. Following the latest round, Lefosa remains the player to beat, holding the lead with 408 cumulative points. However, the chase pack is closing in fast.
Tlaitlai has surged into second place on 395 points, overtaking Lerotholi, who now sits third with 394. Molapo is close behind on 391, while Thabang Khabo rounds out a tightly contested top five with 387.
Just outside the leading group, Mothibeli Linakane (309) and Bonang Thoahlane (297) continue to show resilience as the season progresses.
Meanwhile, Lerotholi – the league captain – said the league was growing steadily and recently secured sponsorship from Liberty Life Lesotho, which he believed will strengthen the league’s profile.
“Off the fairways, the league continues to attract corporate support. Recently, Liberty Life Lesotho provided 30 branded kits to Senior League members,” Lerotholi told the Sunday Express.
“The sponsorship has been warmly welcomed as a boost to the league’s professional image and a clear sign of confidence in the growing popularity of senior golf in Lesotho. This marks a milestone in strengthening the league’s identity and ensuring players are properly equipped with professional attire.”
Commenting on the competition, Lerotholi acknowledged Lefosa’s consistency at the top but cautioned that the race is far from over.
“The competition is heating up. The league runs until the second week of November, which means there is still plenty of time for the standings to change.
“Lefosa has set a strong pace, but players like Thabang Khabo are on a hot streak. Despite missing a few rounds, he consistently scores big when he plays,” Lerotholi said.
