TELECOMMUNICATIONS powerhouse, Econet Telecom Lesotho (ETL), in partnership with its sister company Sasai Econet Financial Services (SEFS), has officially concluded its flagship Hoa Khonahala campaign with the handover of the third and final brand-new Toyota Starlet to its customer, Nthati Sephaka of Ha Abia, Maseru.
The handover ceremony, held at Sefika Complex on Friday, was led by ETL Chief Executive Officer, Dennis Plaatjies, marking the culmination of a four-month campaign that rewarded customer loyalty and reinforced Econet’s customer-centric approach.
The campaign, launched in October last year, rewarded Econet customers for their frequent use of the EcoCash platform, with increased transactions improving their chances of winning.
Customers walked away with a range of prizes, including three brand-new Toyota Starlet vehicles, cash rewards, smartphones and Smart TVs.
The grand finale, highlighted by the vehicle handover and entertainment from popular musicians such as Omali Themba and Litšepe LR, symbolised more than just a prize giveaway, but a shared journey between Econet and the communities it serves.
“What makes this moment truly special is not just the prizes Econet has been handing over, but the real impact behind them,” Mr Plaatjies said.
He said over the course of the campaign, ETL and SEFS rewarded more than 650 customers nationwide, with cashback rewards reaching thousands more from the over M6 million allocated to the initiative.
“Beyond the numbers, we have seen lives touched — musicians, dancers, the hospitality industry, small and medium enterprises, and informal businesses uplifted, while communities were energised throughout the campaign.
“Each winner represents a story of possibility. Hoa Khonahala was never just about rewards, but about demonstrating that when our customers choose us, we choose to give back in meaningful ways. This is the essence of our Blue DNA, and we remain committed to creating more opportunities that bring value, hope and real change to our customers across Lesotho.”
Speaking on behalf of the winners, Ms Sephaka expressed gratitude for the life-changing opportunity.
“Winning this new Toyota Starlet is more than just a dream come true. I never imagined that simply being part of Econet and SEFS would change my life in such a big way. On behalf of all the winners, we are truly grateful to the Econet family for rewarding us and bringing real opportunities to our communities,” she said.
