MASERU — Veteran coach, Lehlohonolo Thotanyana, has been appointed to take over the reins at Lioli Football Club in a move that has been welcomed by the club’s players.
Thotanyana replaces Katiso Mojakhomo who left the club due to work commitments.
Former captain, Thabo Masualle, told the Sunday Express on Friday, that they see the appointment of Thotanyana as a comeback plan for the Teyateyaneng based outfit.
The Likuena defender told this paper that Tse Nala will be fighting for honours in the new season scheduled to start on September 8.
“He is a very good coach and things are looking good for us so far,” Masualle said.
“It’s a challenge to show the coach what we can do.
“We are all starting from scratch with the chance to impress him and fight for places in the team,” he said.
“We won the Bokamoso Knockout tournament in Mohale’s Hoek last weekend.
“Our performance proved that we are hungry and on the right track to achieve great things in the upcoming league campaign,” he said.
Thotanyana, who has over the past two seasons worked at Tse Nala as the technical director, said he has taken over the coaching role on a part-time basis.
“I’m still the (team) technical director, but I will step into the coaching role to help while the club searches for the right man to take over the hot seat,” said Mojakhomo.
“I have been part of the team for a longer period now and I won’t make any immediate changes to the playing squad,” he said.
Tsa Nala has so far signed Tšoanelo Koetle from Matlama, while Mafa Moremoholo rejoins the team after a loan spell at Joy FC.
Lioli kick-start the new season when they take on LMPS at home next month.
