MASERU — Police have arrested two suspects in the daring Hlotse armed robbery which occurred on September 10.

Out of the M85 000 stolen from the 43-year-old debt collector who works at a wholesale in Maputsoe only M23 870 was recovered by the police. The two suspects aged 27 and 36, appeared before the Leribe Magistrate Court last Tuesday, (September 17), facing charges of armed robbery. They were both granted M1 500 bail and ordered to each pay M20 000, which they failed to pay.

Police spokesperson, Inspector Thato Ramarikhoane said a tip-off from the members of the public led to the arrest last Monday. However, police are also hunting down three armed men who disarmed a security guard as a supermarket in Maputsoe on Tuesday at around 6 pm and got away with the guard’s pump action gun and M8 000.

“The three suspects stormed the supermarket and disarmed the security guard before ordering to the ground all people, who included customers,” Ramarikhoane said.

They then locked all occupants inside the supermarket before they drove away.
