MASERU — Popular disc jockey DJ Phakzino tied the knot with his sweetheart Maseabata Tšoeu, 23, at Maseru United Church last Saturday.
DJ Phakzino, whose real name is Phakiso Mokhatla, said he was happy to walk down the aisle with Maseabata whom he met two years ago.
The couple hosted an intimate reception for 170 guests at Lehakoe Club.
“We met in 2010 and I immediately knew she was the one for me,” Phakzino told the Weekender.
“She works at Office National at the Pioneer Mall. I remember when I first saw her while I was still working at Mountain Prints I used to just go in there to ask for prices of different things so that I could see her.”
He added: “I pursued her but she turned me down until we just became friends and then later we dated.”
DJ Phakzino said they had been planning to get married since last year.
“We spoke of getting married mid-last year and we agreed that this year is our year,” he said.
DJ Phakzino said he does not believe in tying the knot when the bride is already pregnant.
“Marriage is supposed to be pure and we wanted to do it the right way,” he said.
The two are born-again Christians and said they had put God before their marriage.
“She used to be an Evangelical but after she learnt about my devotion to God she decided to join me at my church and we are now both born again Christians,” he said.
The DJ said they went through pre-marital counselling to learn how to resolve any problems that might come into their marriage.
Tšoeu said she was excited to get married.
“He is a wonderful man and I am in love,” Tšoeu said.
She said she saw nothing wrong in marrying a DJ.
“I met him a DJ and I loved him regardless, so even after the marriage I will always support him in his work,” she said.
