The eleventh edition of the annual Nedbank Mohokare Golf Classic takes place at Maseru and Ladybrand golf clubs from 17-18 October.

According to Nedbank Lesotho Marketing Manager, ‘Mampine Rabatho, the tournament had become a flagship golf event in the country and over 150 players from, among others, South Africa, Botswana, and Swaziland, are expected to take part.

Rabatho said Nedbank has been sponsoring the tournament since 2003, as part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility programme.

“As Nedbank, we have decided to sponsor this tournament as part of our corporate social responsibility. The Nedbank Mohokare Golf Classic has become the biggest golf tournament in this country and continues to grow with each passing year,” Rabatho said.

Preparations for the tournament, she added, were at an advanced stage.

“This year, there has been a lot of interest from local players, and there will be plenty of prizes to be won although it will not be cash.

“Preparations for this tournament are at an advanced stage and it is quite pleasing to notice that we have many Basotho players, 90 in total, who have registered to take part this year,” she said.

According to Rabatho, this is a very important tournament as it creates a platform for networking.

“Most times you will find that golf is played by very prominent people, so this kind of tournament creates a platform for them to form friendships and also improve working relations,” said Rabatho.
