AS part of Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Mohato Seeiso’s birthday celebrations, charity organisation Mokhatlo oa Tlhokomelo ea Bana, will hold the traditional women’s celebration Pitiki at the royal palace on 20 June.

Mokhatlo oa Tlhokomelo ea Bana takes care of orphaned and vulnerable children, assisting them to improve their lives by providing for their needs.

“We will celebrate the queen’s 38th birthday in style by hosting this traditional women’s celebration at the royal palace on 20 June,” the organisation’s secretary, Mathato Sekoai, told Xpress People on Friday.
“Pitiki is a traditional celebration for married women only and no man is allowed to join.
“It is whereby women equip each other with ideas to tackle and try to find solutions to their everyday struggles and how to handle their husbands.
“It is a fun-filled activity that encompasses singing and traditional Basotho women’s dances.”

Sekoai also mentioned that the event is also intended to raise funds.
“As the queen’s organisation is not a profit-making initiative but takes care of many children who have many needs, especially in this cold season, we will use the gate-takings of the event to raise funds.
“Donations are also expected from attendees to help take care of the children.”
