THE Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) has expanded its reach nationwide by launching its mobile office, designed to bring services closer to the public.
Speaking at the launch event held at Maseru Mall on Thursday, RSL Commissioner General, Advocate ’Mathabo Mokoko, highlighted the significance of enhancing accessibility, investing in both people and technology, and ultimately improving citizens’ livelihoods.
Advocate Mokoko explained that the introduction of mobile offices represents RSL’s approach to utilising technology to simplify people’s lives.
“Today marks a truly important and special occasion. Our strategy at the RSL involves investing in people and technology but, above all, what motivates us daily is ensuring we make a positive impact on people’s lives,” Adv Mokoko said.
She added that part of achieving this objective, which includes enhancing knowledge and improving livelihoods, is “making sure RSL services are accessible through every possible means”.
Adv Mokoko asserted that the RSL is committed to providing services to the public in a convenient manner, encouraging them to comply with tax payments.
“We are making significant investments to ensure tax collection is easy, smart, and appealing, so that Basotho, businesses, and investors find paying tax enjoyable for the country’s benefit,” she said.
“This enables medication to be available at hospitals and allows vulnerable children to look to the sky, knowing their future and dreams can one day become a reality.”
She added that they had noted the difficulty many taxpayers faced in accessing their services, which had prompted them to find an innovative solution.
“While we are available at different locations,” she said, “we recognized that it isn’t always easy for everyone to reach us. One of our innovative responses is the RSL mobile services we are launching today. These mobile services will be available across the country, including in remote areas.”
Adv Mokoko further noted that the mobile office would accelerate their service provision, taxpayer education, and engagement with the people.
“We will be accessible, provide services, educate the public, and connect with Basotho,” she said.
“This is our method for ensuring accessibility, serving the people, and creating a positive impact.”
