MASERU — The Pioneer Shopping Mall which is still under construction in Maseru will only open its doors to the public in mid-November, a month after its scheduled opening due to delays in signing in tenants.new mall
Mpho Malie, a director with Moruo Developments Ltd which is behind the project, said there had been some delays in signing in tenants.
“There was a delay in signing in some of the tenants which prompted some (further) work on the already existing structure.
“The cinema people made requests on modifications on the structures, so we had to start re-working the structures,” Malie said.
Moruo Developments Ltd last year said the mall would open its doors to the public in October.
Malie said the new mall will house Ster Kinekor, Pick & Pay, Steers and LCS, among other businesses.
Meanwhile, Malie said work at Boitelo Primary School at Katlehong had begun.
Moruo Developments Ltd is funding the relocation of the school to pave way for the mall.
The new school is being built at a cost of M2 million, according to Malie.
“We acquired a site at Katlehong where construction work has already started,” Malie said.
“In the meantime, the kids are still at their original school while awaiting completion of the new school.
“The new school will have electricity, toilets, an office block and kitchen, other than the seven classrooms,” Malie said.
Construction of the new school is expected to be finished in the next six months.
