THE Lesotho Post Bank (LPB) has introduced VISA debit cards to enhance convenience for its clients, enabling them to easily access banking and payment services.

The new VISA debit cards allow customers to make purchases at any VISA-accepting store and to withdraw cash from any Automated Teller Machine (ATM) locally and internationally.

The VISA debit cards come in four types: the Black Card for business and private banking, the Gold Card, the Retail Card, and the Student Card. They are valid for three years, and clients have six months to register for the new cards free of charge.

The LPB’s Acting Managing Director, Mahase Mahooana, said the product was developed about four years ago after identifying the need for enhanced card features.

“After a successful development phase and internal trials, the VISA debit card is now available for all LPB clients,” Mr Mahooana said.

He said one of the key benefits of the LPB VISA debit cards was their affordability. Mr Mahooana also encouraged Basotho to take advantage of the new offering and urged former LPB customers to return, as the bank had addressed previous challenges with innovative solutions.

“It took us about four years to develop this innovative product. We tested it with our employees to ensure its reliability, and now we are confident that all our customers can use it with ease. We have also launched a campaign to encourage our clients to migrate their accounts to the LPB VISA debit cards.

“As always, affordability remains a priority for our customers. We are excited to introduce this development and will continue spreading the news across the country. We, therefore, appeal to every Mosotho to return home and join LPB, a bank that belongs to Basotho.”

In addition, the LPB Head of Human Capital – People and Culture, Bokang Mareka, said clients can visit any LPB branch to migrate their accounts and obtain the new VISA debit cards. Ms Mareka explained that the only requirement for registration was a valid National Identity (ID) card.

“We are committed to being affordable, accessible, and continuously improving our products through innovation,” Ms Mareka said.
