. . . rapper irate after being stood up in birthday bash trip

Mohalenyane Phakela

LOCAL artist, Febric, has lashed out at radio presenter Tlhokz after he was stood up for the latter’s birthday bash.
Febric was among the bevy of artistes lined up to perform at Tlhokz birthday bash held in Hlotse on Saturday.

However, the Khubetsoana-based rapper said Tlhokz took him for granted as he was made to wait in vain for many hours for the transport which was supposed to take him to the bash.
“Thlokz had told me that the car she had booked for artists from Maseru would leave town at around 4pm on Saturday,” Febric told the Weekender this week.
“I then told her that since the car was going to pass by Khubetsoana, it was not necessary for me to go and wait in town and I would rather wait near Willies Hospital.

“I stood there for about four hours and no car showed up. I made several attempts to get hold of Tlhokz but her phone was just ringing.” Febric added that when he finally reach her, Tlhokz said the taxi had already passed and they had to leave since they could not find him.

“I was so angry and felt used as I had to cancel all my plans for her shows where I have been performing for free since the first one three years ago,” said the visibly irate Febric.
“I believed she was a friend but now I realise the consequences of mixing business with pleasure.”
On her part, Tlhokz apologised profusely for the incident, saying it was a case of miscommunication.
“I had to leave for Hlotse earlier than everyone else so that I could check if everything was ready for the night,” Tlhokz said.

“I gave Febric’s number to the driver of the taxi I had booked for artists from Maseru so that he can call him when they reach Willies since he had said he would wait for them there.”
Tlhokz said she was surprised to see that Febric was not among the coterie of artistes who had come for the bash.

“The driver told me his phone was off when they got to Willies, so he asked his passengers to help him spot Febric but could not locate him,” she said. So they had to leave to get to Hlotse in time.”
Tlhokz further said she had contacted a colleague to take Febric to Hlotse but was unsuccessful in that regard, adding that she would not intentionally hurt the rapper.
“If the taxi was full, I would have suggested they leave someone else and not him,” Tlhokz said.

She said attempts to apologise to Febric have been ill-fated as the rapper was so angry he did not want to listen to her side of the story.
