Double delight for Madidilane

BANTU coach, James Madidilane, on Friday won his second Econet Premier League Coach of the Month award at a ceremony that was held at Bambatha Tšita in Maseru.

The former South African international pocketed M2500 while LDF attacking midfielder, Tšepo Toloane, who was named October Player of the Month walked away M3500 richer.

Assistant referee, Puleng Mahomo, pocketed M2000 for the referee of the month award.

Madidilane won the October 2017 award to add his earlier accolade for the month award of September 2017.

For the November awards, Matlama coach Mosito Matela was rewarded for turning around the fortunes of his club while LCS midfielder, Makara Ntaitsana won Player of the Month award. Makhetha Phatsoane scooping the Referee of the Month prize.

Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) chairman, Leuta Leuta congratulated all the winners and encouraged them to continue working hard.

“I want to congratulate all the winners for the two months and we are sorry that we had some administrative problems that caused the delay in giving out the awards,” Leuta said.

“We are working very hard with our sponsors in order to change the level of our football. The aim is to get to a professional level.

“I am happy for those who won and please continue working hard and improving in your different roles. To those who did not win, keep pushing as this is not the end and there are other months ahead.”

Premier league sponsors, Econet Telecom Lesotho, introduced the awards as part of efforts to improve the standards in the league.

The candidates for the coach and player awards are nominated by a panel of journalists who submit the nominations to the PLMC and Econet who then produce the voting codes for each player and coach for the supporters to vote through SMS.

There is also a panel of referees that helps in selecting the referee of the month.
