FORMER Likuena striker Thabiso Brown who now plays for Bolivian outfit, Deportivo Sur-Car, says he is focus is on helping his side gain promotion into the country’s Premier League.

Brown who, before leaving the country last year, was playing for Kick4Life, has been enjoying a purple patch at his new outfit which he joined last month from Bolivia FC and has so far scored seven goals in six matches.

Sur-Car are currently fourth on the seven-team Bolivian Nacional B table where the top two teams will qualify for the next phase to face teams from Group B and C.

“We are eyeing to qualify for the top league and currently we are number four in our group which has seven teams,” Brown said.

“There are actually three groups, ours made of seven teams, the other two are made up of eight and six teams respectively and the top two teams will qualify for the next phase.”

Brown said although they didn’t start well, they have found their feet and he hopes to help his team into the next phase.

“We didn’t start well but we are finding our feet and hopefully we will manage to make it into the next phase of qualifiers. Our next two matches are away to Vinto and Bata so we just have to ensure that we don’t drop points to enhance,” he said.

Brown also took a minute to explain how this promotional play off works saying Bolivia’s nine districts all have their separate leagues named Premier A and the best two teams qualify into the Copa Nacional B Simon Bolivar (Premier league play-offs) that will make 18 teams.

“The nine districts also have non-league teams (not registered with premier A) which play a league at the district and the champions will play against each other. The winner, first and second runner ups will join that 18 teams to make them 21 which will be dived in three groups.”

Asked how he views the competition as compared to Lesotho, Brown said the league is much more competitive than that of as they have players coming from different South America countries.

“The competition is good here and very high. It needs people who work hard as most South America players come her while also eying moves to big clubs in more developed leagues and countries. It’s attracting their national team players, so far we have players from Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Ecuador,” Brown said.

“Sundowns’ Ali Meza was playing for Oriente Petrolero in Bolivia before he moved to South Africa in July this year. Formerly Sundowns and now Kaizer Chiefs’ striker, Leonardo Castro, was also playing here before he moved to SA.”

Brown said he left his previous side after the management failed to fulfill the promises that they made and he left when he found a better offer.

“They couldn’t pay me but I was also getting good offers from other teams. Apart from that, I was now looking for a team playing on a higher level so I think it was a wise move. I left them in September when I joined Sur-Car.”

The stocky striker said who left the local premiership as the top scorer with 17 goals said he doesn’t see himself playing in Lesotho again although he still hopes to play for the national team.

“I don’t have any desires to play in Lesotho again. I think I have done my part and now I am looking for new challenges.

“My next destination is neither Lesotho nor Africa. It is every player’s dream to play for their country and I still would like to play for our national team again but at moment I am focusing on these crucial matches we are playing,” Brown said.
