National team striker Thabiso Brown has extended his stay at Kick4Life by one season.

The forward, who was voted Kick4Life players’ player of the season on Wednesday night joined the premier league outfit at the start of the 2014/15 season on a one-year loan deal from B Division side S.K FC.

Brown scored 10 goals for premier league newcomers and helped them finish 11th on the 14-team premier league table.

Kick4Life communications and marketing manager Ramafahla Thamae confirmed to the Sunday Express that Brown had agreed to stay for another season.

“He has extended his stay with us for another season and we are happy to have him. He was  very instrumental in the team last season and his goals helped us maintain our premier league status,” Thamae said.

Thamae further said the team had succeeded in its mandate of avoiding relegation.

“I think we had a fair season as it was our first in the premier league. Now that we have managed to stay in the league, we are hoping to come back stronger and at least finish in the top-eight,” he said.

Meanwhile, Thamae said the team was hoping to sign new players before the season starts towards the end of next month.

He however, also noted the priority was to keep their stalwarts such as Lioli’s Monne Pitso and Tokelo Majoro.

“I think by next week, we will have a media briefing where we will be unveiling our new acquisitions and also revealing who would be leaving the team. But we are still intending to keep the core of the team from last season as we have already started talking to Lioli officials over Monne and Majoro for further loan spells. The team is expected to resume training on Monday next week (tomorrow) as we are serious about being very competitive next season.”

Yet Thamae lamented inadequate funding at the club.

“We held our player-awards on Wednesday and we are aware that there were some areas we did not cover due to lack of funds. But we are in talks with some executives to see if their companies could sponsor our team.”

According to Thamae, Brown was awarded the top-scorer and players’ player of the season awards, while Keketso Mokhele was named player of the season and young player of the season gong went to Thetsane Lesia.
