MASERU — There was drama at a “prayer meeting” yesterday when some women who were said to be possessed went berserk.
The prayer walk was being led by Evangelist Limpho Edward Mathendeleka of Jehovah Jire and pastors from other church denominations.
It had been organised to pray for a fair and peaceful election on Saturday.
The walk started at Lake Side at eight in the morning.
The drama started at Pitso Ground during the prayer session.
Some 12 women allegedly became possessed and started screaming.
Some were swearing as the pastors tried to restrain them.
“You are a liar Mathendeleka. We have long voted and this country is going to be in ruins, we have shed blood even before the elections and who do you think you are to stop us?” one of the women who was on the ground and panting for breath said.
Afterwards Mathendeleka said: “Those people you saw falling were possessed and some of them did not even know that they had such demons”.
“None of them knew what they were doing until we prayed for them. Now they actually say very sensitive things about the elections.”
He also said there was a need to pray for the peace and stability of this country.
“We do not want any bloodshed and not even after the elections.”
Mathendeleka said people must learn to accept disappointment if their parties don’t win the election.
“People should leave themselves room for disappointment and for those who have won, they should be saved and know that they owe all the praise to God.”
