MASERU — The battle to oust the Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) executive committee will continue even if the High Court blocks the special conference next Monday.
On February 28 the High Court will make a judgment on whether the party’s special conference set for March 19 should proceed on not.
This, after five LCD members brought an urgent application seeking to block the special conference that seeks to remove the executive committee which has been accused of insubordination.
Now 11 constituencies have hatched a plan to ensure that the executive committee is disbanded even if the High Court rules to block the special committee.
The 11 are part of the 26 that initiated the move to remove the committee.
Sources in the constituencies say the plan is that as soon as the court blocks the special conference the constituencies will submit more petitions insisting that the committee should be disbanded.
The strategy this time, the source said, is to call for the removal of the whole committee including party leader Pakalitha Mosisili and his deputy Lesao Lehohla.
After disbanding the whole national executive committee they would then re-elect Mosisili and Lehohla.
