TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant, Vodacom Lesotho, has continued to take services closer to its customers after recently launching a new store in Roma.

The shop is located at a new shopping complex in Roma and becomes the company’s 14th retail outlet in the country.

The M1.4 million investment is aimed at extending provision of services like as mobile phone sales, airtime and the mobile money platform, M-Pesa services.

Vodacom Lesotho retail stores manager Maggie Mokhatla told the Business Journal that the store will bring services closer to the National University of Lesotho (NUL) students and the Roma community at large.

“Roma is a busy place dominated by NUL students and as Vodacom Lesotho we always strive to bring services closer to our customers,” Ms Mokhatla said.

“We have been providing telecommunications services to Basotho for many years and this being the 14th store in the country, we saw the need to invest M1.4 million to address the needs of Roma people.

“The store is designed to accommodate a lot of customers as it is spacious and they will be able to access a variety of services such as M-Pesa, purchasing mobile phones and airtime among others.”

The grand opening was spiced up by a variety of activities that kept the Vodacom Lesotho customers and potential ones glued to the complex grounds for the most part of the day.

K’hotho hitmaker, Juvy, and comedian and brand influencer, Skaftin were the masters of ceremonies (MCs). While Juvy created a buzz with teasers of his popular songs, Skaftin threw in rib crackers and kept the audience entertained.

Two groups of Vodacom dancers, a male and a female group, also showcased their nimble feet while DJ Thizozo churned out several hits from the decks.

Lucky customers walked away with giveaways like an Apple iPhone 6s cell-phone, Vodacom Lesotho airtime and branded hampers among others.

Ms Mokhatla said the university students would also access special packages designed for the youth which include slashed data packages.

“We have packages designed for everyone such as Just For You which accommodates all people. However, we have another initiative, the NXT LVL, specifically tailored for the youth and offers data and calling bundles at discounted prices. When we designed NXT LVL, we looked at how our youth mostly use their data and then designed bundles for them to access such services at reduced prices,” Ms Mokhatla said.
