MASERU — Joyous Celebration choir’s William Sejake and his fellow South African gospel artist — Khotso Magalema — will grace the Tankiso and Friends gala dinner on Friday at Manthabiseng Convention Centre.
Sejake and Magalema will be joined by local gospel groups like Yadah Praise Family, Anointed, Sentso and Immortal Phoenix to provide a stunning line-up for the show.
The gala dinner — which organisers say will be a “red carpet show” — will provide other entertainment performances like poetry, comedy and drama as well.
Sejake is one of Joyous Celebration’s popular lead singers.
Magalema is one of the finalists of the well-known South African gospel talent search shows, I Want to Sing Gospel.
Tankiso and Friends gala dinner — an initiative of local popular gospel artist Tankiso Moahloli – is expected to attract hundreds of people with organisers saying it will “shine with glamour”.
Moahloli told Xpress People he was holding this event to raise funds for his third album, a dedication to inmates at prisons in the country.
He seeks to rehabilitate inmates with his music.
“While in the mission of rehabilitation, I realised a hidden talent within the inmates whom I reckon can sing very well,” Moahloli said.
“I then decided to record an album which will benefit the inmates and their families.”
Most people in Lesotho still suffer rejection from both their communities and families after being released from prisons, he said.
“I live a life where the physical and spiritual wellbeing of the next person matters more than anything to me,” Moahloli said.
“I decided to select a night which I thought would be etched in the minds and hearts of many as they will surely live an event full of motivation and inspiration.
“After all, the event is meant to have people enjoying themselves.”
The gala is also meant to provide an atmosphere for networking for people from all walks of life.
Moahloli released his first album, Nako lia Khutsufala, in 2005.
The track Hoja ke Sena Oena from his second, self-titled album earned him fame.
