Ndlomose laments

MASERU — Ndiwuhleli Ndlomose (DC) said following the High Court’s ruling he had “incurred a lot of costs” since he had already launched a fresh electoral campaign anticipating a by-election. Speaking to the Sunday Express on Friday, he also said the victory was not so much for him as it was for the people of the Tele constituency.

“To this day I still maintain that I had obeyed the law and all that I said in the High Court still stands even now,” Ndlomose said. “In my opinion, it is crucial for elections to be handled carefully. People should not take this victory to mean anybody can get away with disregarding electoral laws and procedures.” Ndlomose however insisted that voters in question in the May 26, 2012 poll had to be assisted according to the law. In any case, he said, “people present at the voting station agreed such voters needed assistance”.

“There were no mistakes or deceptive actions on that day,” Ndlomose said. Ndlomose added that it was now time for him to  return to parliament and reclaim all his remuneration and benefits which “I forfeited following the High Court order that annulled my election victory”. “I’m going to fight to regain those benefits, and I want them back as the Court of Appeal has dismissed these people’s case,” Ndlomose said.
