MASERU — The country’s premier bodybuilding contest — Mr and Ms Lesotho — will be held at a Maseru hotel on December 11.
Tseko Mbele, organiser of the competition, told Xpress People contestants — to be drawn from clubs in all 10 districts of the country — will battle it out in six categories (male), while the Miss Figure will be the only title up for grabs in the female category.
Male competitors will be fighting for the Mr Novice, under-70, over-70, under-21, open and overall titles.
“There are no monetary prizes, but we are willing to offer money in future so that we motivate our contestants. But in addition to medals, winners will also get the chance to participate in international competitions outside the country,” Mbele said.
The competition is in its fourth year and has proved to be very popular among local bodybuilders. Mbele said registration for the competition is now open.
“For the male competitors, registration will remain open until the day of the contest because they already know what is required of them in the competition. But for the female contestants, registration closes two weeks before the show because they need to be taken through the routines and motions of the competition.”
Lekhotla Moahloli was crowned Mr Lesotho last year, while Khahliso took the 2008 Ms Figure title.
