THE Water and Sewage Company (WASCO) has donated various goods including bottled war, flags and branded shirts for use by government officials and the public during the national golden jubilee independence celebrations on Tuesday at Setsoto Stadium.
Water Affairs Minister Ralechate ‘Mokose handed over the items to the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Mr Phallang Monare at WASCO’s head office in Maseru.
The donation consisted of 3000 bottles of purified water, 10 000 flags with the WASCO and 50th independence anniversary logos as well as branded shirts and cups.
Mr ‘Mokose thanked the Ministry of Home Affairs for organising the independence ceremony, saying it was a demonstration of unity among Basotho who needed to safeguard peace and stability in the country.
“As the actual celebration day approaches we have to introspect and thank God in prayer.
“I also need to thank the Ministry of Home Affairs for organising the ceremony. I must add that with the challenge that the country had of drought that has negatively affected the economy and lack of funds in the government, you still managed to deliver excellent results,” Mr ‘Mokose said.
For his part, Mr Monare thanked WASCO and urged other government cooperatives to follow their example and also market themselves locally and outside the country.
“The good work done by WASCO must be encouraged. We must testify to our independence by supporting Basotho water bottlers. We have many Basotho water bottlers so there is no reason to buy from outside,” Mr Monare said, adding, “I am glad that this cooperative used their logo to their advantage and the logos will be seen on the cars”.
