TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant, Vodacom Lesotho, has launched Mohala ka Mokitlane, a device financing scheme aimed at making smartphones more accessible and affordable for low-income customers.

The initiative, which allows customers to pay for smartphones in instalments, is part of Vodacom’s ongoing effortsto bridge the financial gap for individuals who cannot afford to purchase?new phones upfront.

The scheme was unveiled atan event at Vodacom Park this past week, with the company offering a range of devices such as the Samsung A04E, A05S, Mobicel F10, and Sechocha 4G, priced between M1000 and M5000. The financing scheme aims to help customers acquire these devices and pay for them over time, easing the burden of a one-time payment.

Speaking at the event, Vodacom’s Executive Head of Sales and Distribution, Palesa Kaloli, expressed pride in launching the?initiative. She said over the years, Vodacom has worked tirelessly to make Basotho more innovative and tech-savvy by offering smartphones at affordable prices.

We now offer the new 4G-enabled Sechocha model to keep up with the digital world. Many Basotho cannot afford smartphones upfront, and this financing option will make it easier for them to access the devices they need,” Ms Kaloli said.

Ms Kaloli also spoke of the importance of 4G connectivity, saying Vodacom sells 4G phones due to the growing demand for internet access. She noted that small business owners, students, and everyday users rely on fast internet for research, marketing on platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook, and staying connected in a digital world.

The Mohala ka Mokitlane scheme is available to qualified Vodacom prepaid customers who frequently use M-Pesa and airtime services. Customers can check their eligibility by dialling *111# and pressing 8 to access the service.
