MASERU — The Vodacom Great 7 promotion came to an end on Friday with Thabang Matlosa becoming the seventh and last winner of a car in the three-month campaign.
Matlosa, 59, won a brand new Corsa Utility vehicle.
The promotion was meant to celebrate Vodacom Lesotho’s attainment of 700 000 subscribers since the company started operating in the kingdom in May 1996.
Besides Matlosa, the other lucky customers who won cars in the promotion are Tlotliso Ntsukunyane, ‘Malefu Lefosa, Selloane Letsosa, Thapelo Senatla, Relebohile Khutlane and Lenono Mphenetha.
Up to a 1 000 other customers won airtime vouchers, fridges, television sets and grocery hampers since the celebration started in April.
Matlosa said the new car — the third he has owned — will help him run his business of transporting goods and equipment from Durban into the country.
“I was starting to wonder what I would do if my van broke down because it is very old and has been giving me trouble of late,” he told Xpress People.
“But I am thankful Vodacom has eased my worries.”
Vodacom Lesotho’s head of the commercial department, Tšabiso Letsoela, said the company was humbled by the response it got from Basotho.
“Our vision is to see the whole Basotho nation being a part of the Vodacom family which seeks to make a difference within our nation,” he said.
“Giving back in this manner is just a step forward to inviting Basotho to our family which is significantly growing bigger and bigger.”
