MASERU — Qoaling villagers are in shock. Last Thursday one of them discovered the body of her friend who had been missing for three days. Her belly had been slit open. Assistant to the chief of Qoaling, Michael Motumi, told the Sunday Express on Friday that the friend went to check on the woman after he realised that she had not turned up for work for days.
“The friend then went to the woman’s house to check on her. “She found that the door was not locked and she opened and entered only to have her eyes meeting a lifeless body whose belly was ripped open,” Motumi said. “The woman was renting a room at one big house that is currently used as a commune,” he said. “She was last seen on Monday afternoon and no one knew where she had gone and her phone was not available.”
Motumi said one of the villagers went to the chief’s office at around 8 a.m. to report the harrowing discovery. “I have never in my life seen a human body opened like an animal’s,” he said, adding: “Her internal organs like intestines, lungs, liver and other parts were exposed.” Motumi said the police suspect that the woman’s heart was missing but that can only be confirmed by a postmortem.
He said the police had found evidence that the victim had been intimate before she was murdered but could not ascertain if the sex was consensual or not. “Her cell phone was destroyed and it did not have a SIM card,” Motumi said.
