RAPPER Unkle Krack’s Ak’u ik’hantše music video has broken barriers being premiered on international hip-hop and urban music channel, MTV Base.
The hip-hop track features local rap heavyweight Mega Hertz and was released last October.
The video was released last month and since then, fans have gone crazy its quality.
Unkle Krack told the Weekender that he was contacted by MTV Base shortly after the release.
He said it was a surreal experience having his work on MTV Base as that exposes him to millions of viewers.
“The recognition will broaden my audience across the world because MTV Base is a big platform,” Unkle Krack said.
“I am happy that the music has now been recognised beyond our borders.”
Unkle Krack is thrilled at the reception that the track has received even from non-Basotho speakers.
“Ak’u ik’hantše is entirely in Sesotho and seeing people enjoying the song when they do not even understand the language tells me that we have done something right.”
The Ak’u ik’hantše music video was shot last November and since then, Unkle Krack and his team have been working tirelessly to perfect it.
He worked with photographer and videographer Nkopane Mojakisane, Sehlabaka Rampeta, Lebohang Thepa and Nkoanyane Pitso.
“We wanted to portray the same image that we depicted with the song which is to be proud of oneself,” Unkle Krack said.
