MASERU — Thaha-Khube FM has set out to boost the radio station’s capacity by hosting a fashion show next weekend.

The event, dubbed the Summer Fashion Show, is pencilled in for ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre on November 28.

“The fashion is meant to raise funds for the station’s projects that will help enhance our broadcasting standards,” Itumeleng Mokatsanyane, who is coordinating the show, told Xpress People.

“The station has a number of projects and they include buying new transmitters for the station.”

Mokatsanyane, a presenter on Thaha-Khube FM, said they had been preparing for the show since August.

“We started organising the fashion show in August but we encountered lots of problems which included a financial backlog and sponsorship delays but now everything is in shape,” she said.

“We have a number of fashion shops and designers that have agreed to have some of their summer trends exhibited.”

Mokatsanyane said 10 models will participate in the fashion show.

“We had 12 girls by two withdrew because they couldn’t handle the pressure of professional modelling training,” she said.

“The girls are going to be the ambassadors for our winter and summer fashion shows that will be held annually.”

Mokatsanyane said besides promoting local businesses the show would also give a platform to for upcoming musicians to showcase their talent.

“We are using the fashion show to create a platform to promote local talent,” she said.

“The girls are going to receive compensation of both cash and gift prizes to motivate them while the entertainment line-up will include the likes of Malimo Cultural Theatre, Lilaphalapha, Stlofa, Damario, Chocolate Soul and many other local artists.”

“The MC of the fashion show is going to be Lesedi FM’s Ba2cada alongside one of our presenters,” she added.

“We hope to fulfil our ambition of teaching women of all sizes how to look good and colourful in summer trends as our models are Maseru girls of different sizes from a size small to extra large.”
