Thabane worst PM-Mokhothu

DEMOCRATIC Congress (DC) leader, Mathibeli Mokhothu says Prime Minister Thomas Thabane’s government is the worst since the country’s independence.

Dr Thabane should thus resign and salvage a little of the good image that he once had.

Mr Mokhothu said this while addressing hundreds of DC supporters in the Mechechane constituency in Butha-Buthe recently.

The DC national executive committee (NEC) has been touring all its 80 constituencies to reconnect with its supporters.

Speaking at the Mechechane rally, Mr Mokhothu said the current administration was the most corrupt as it pays no regard to the rule of law, human rights and the dispensation of justice.

He accused Dr Thabane’s administration of toying around issues of national security, saying that the premier has lost the plot and should relinquish power.

“If there is any government that has failed and toyed with serious national issues, it is the Ntate Tom (Dr Thabane)’s administration,” Mr Mokhothu said.

“They have ruined the national economy, they ruined the education system, interfered with the national security agencies and are using favouritism when absorbing youths into the public service.

“Corruption is at its highest. It does not only happen in the civil service but it is in fact spearheaded by the government itself. This 10th parliament has produced the worst government ever.”

Mr Mokhothu also accused Dr Thabane’s administration of failing to empower the citizens adding that the government was “shameless” to compete with the private sector by awarding tenders to companies that are affiliated to some government officials.

“Governments are supposed to empower the people so that families can improve their lives. But this shameless one declared war against the people as soon as it got into office. It pays no regard to the rule of law or basic human rights. The Prime Minister himself gave an order to the police to harm the people and this has resulted into many civilian deaths.”

Mr Mokhothu urged the people not to vote for any of the parties in the four-party coalition government because “they have committed disgusting crimes” while in government.

He also said the recently leaked audio clip of Dr Thabane’s daughter, ‘Mabatsoeneng Hlaele, proved that the Thabane family and its partners were desperate for self-preservation and had resorted to seeking traditional healers.

“They are aware that their time is over and they are doing desperate to cling on to power.”

Mr Mokhothu urged Dr Thabane to resign from office and salvage a little of what is left of his once good image.

Ntate Tom (Dr Thabane) should just go. He did very well during his early years calling the civil servants to order to ensure service delivery. Now he is an old man and no longer capable. He is ruining the good image that he once had,” Mr Mokhothu said.
