MASERU — Ten tennis players have been selected to fly the country’s flag at the Botswana Open junior championship in Gaborone this month.
‘Mamotebang Molise, Nthabiseng Nqosa, Pinki Montlha and Sibongile Mofammere will compete in the girls’ division.
Rat’siu Lebesa, Kuleile Mokhitli, Bishop Mosebi, Thato Mosehle and two players whose names were only given as Mojalefa and Khojane will take part in the boys’ segment.
Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association president Motlatsi Morolong told the Sunday Express he was confident the 10 players medals home from the four-day tournament.
Morolong said, however, the team was subject to change if the selected players did not perform satisfactorily inn training sessions before departure for Gaborone.
All southern African countries are expected to show up at Notoane Country Club in Gaborone where the championship will take place starting on July 17.
Morolong said Lesotho had prepared tirelessly for the tournament since the beginning of the year.
“I believe our squad is one of the strongest in the region and we hope to once more leave another mark in the history of this championship,” he said.
The squad is scheduled to leave for Botswana on July 15.
