MASERU — Matseliso Mokoro, the owner of Spinning Wheel tavern, walked away with a brand new Toyota Hilux during the annual Maluti Mountain Brewery Retail Excellence Awards on Wednesday.
Mokoro was among five tavern owners who were lined up to win the grand prize in a raffle.
The ceremony was a festivity of prizes. Two tavern owners won M10 000 worth of stock each while 15 others won themselves 66 cases each as start-up stock for 2012.
An overjoyed Mokoro was speechless after she won the vehicle.
This is her first car.
“I am short of words but all I know is that the Almighty has done this for me because this car is going to boost my business,” Mokoro told Sunday Express.
“I would like to thank my customers and Maluti Mountain Brewery because they have changed my life.”
Mokoro said she is hoping to expand her business and make sure she maintains the standards which are required by the company.
Theko, 43, of Leseli Tavern who walked away with a golden prize of M10 000 worth of stock told the Sunday Express she feels encouraged by the award.
Last year she won M15 000.
“I am so excited and I now have hopes of reaching greater heights with my business,” Theko told the Sunday Express.
The competition is aimed at ensuring that businesses maintain the retail standards set by the MMB.
MMB official Mampine Sekote said the event encourages retailers around the country to strive at growing their business.
“We have five set standards that retailers need to follow — prize, product availability, product quality, volume growth and cooler stacking.
