MASERU — Struggling Swallows beat Linare 1-0 in Hlotse yesterday in a match that could have gone either way.
The win moves the MazeAnod side up to 12th place on the log and out of the relegation zone while Linare remain 11th.
A largely uninspiring and scrappy affair was settled by an own goal from Linare defender Thabiso Ramoseeka.
It was another patchy display from Linare who have endured a bad run of form in recent weeks.
Linare coach Pitso Mosotoane said his team’s performance was below par.
“It could have gone either way. Both teams didn’t play well.
“We conceded an own goal and that shows that we were under pressure,” Linare coach Pitso Mosothoane said.
“The team generally didn’t play well the combinations were not right,” he said
After winning two successive games in the second weekend of the league Linare haven’t won a game since.
“Of course (I’m worried about our form), it means we have to go and sort ourselves out,” Mosothoane said.
Swallows coach Tšeliso Fothoane was happy with the result, Swallows’ second win this season.
“The preparation was good and so the focus of the team was good. We are happy with the result,” Fothoane said.
Elsewhere, Majantja and Lerotholi played to a goalless draw in Mohale’s Hoek.
