Shore Island hosts Denim and White

ENTERTAINMENT company, Shore Island, will celebrate spring in style with a hangout at the Waterfront, in Maqalika, in the Maseru district on the 30th of this month.

The event will be held as part of part of efforts to celebrate the end of the winter and welcome the spring season.

Dubbed Denim and White, revellers are expected to rock their denim outfits and white t-shirts.

Besides chilling in the rocky environs of Maqalika, revellers will also enjoy speed boat rides in the lake. There will also be an artefacts market where local craftsman will showcase their products. Plus size models from Chunky Thighs LS will strut their stuff to showcase their fashion.

Speaking to the Xpress People recently, one of the organisers, Taelo Pali, said the event would also explore other forms of entertainment and the new hangout spot.

“Theme parties are more about giving patrons the best experience rather than focusing on who is going to perform,” Pali said.

“We do not even have a line-up of popular acts but we have invited all the artistes from the Maqalika area to come and showcase their talent.

“We found the area appealing because of its rocky environs and also provides an exquisite lake view. We have hired a speed boat for patrons to enjoy on the day,” Pali said.

Adding to that, Kuena Thekiso, who is also one of the organisers said the idea aims to develop the youth in the arts sector.

“We have held three editions before which were solely arts and crafts markets but then we decided to broaden it to entertainment since this is the language understood bests by youths.

“We are working closely with the area chief to ensure that the youth from the area benefit the most from the event. We want it to grow to grow to a point where the youths can earn a living out of it. However, those who do catering or crafts can already sell their products at the event,” Thekiso said.
