MASERU — Police say they are looking for one Josefa Rasongoane who is suspected of killing four men and stealing livestock over the past two years.
Police spokesman Masupha Masupha said Rasongoane is wanted in connection with the murder of four farmers in Thaba-Tseka Malalaneng Ha Nts’asa.
Masupha said the suspect is aged between 30 and 35.
“Police have been looking for Rasongoane since 2009 after he allegedly killed and stole the stock of one farmer in Bobete Thaba-Tseka,” Masupha said.
“Recently he allegedly stole livestock, killed farmers and raped three school girls in Ha Nts’asa.
“The suspect also has an illegal firearm that he uses to commit the criminal offences.
“He disappeared after committing these criminal offences.”
Masupha appealed for information that could lead to Rasongoane’s arrest.
The police did not provide further details about the murders.
Meanwhile, the police said a 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Ha-Mabote two weeks ago.
“The girl was walking in the street when the suspect pulled her into the bush in Ha Mabote,” Masupha said.
“The boy forcefully undressed the girl and raped her. Afterwards the boy disappeared.
“The rape case was reported by the parents to the police and police are still investigating the matter.”
In a separate incident, a 12-year-old girl from Peka was allegedly gang-raped by seven boys in a school toilet two weeks ago.
“The girl had asked to go to the toilet during school lessons,” Masupha said.
“While she was in the toilet, seven boys from the same school came in and raped her.
“She tried to scream for help while the boys were raping her but no one heard (her cries for help).
“Fortunately one student heard her crying in the toilets and went in to rescue her.”
Masupha said the police were still investigating the case.
